MANILA—Filipino migrant workers repatriated from Wuhan city can use their cellphones to contact their loved ones and other people for necessities when they are quarantined in Tarlac, a Department of Health official said Saturday.

Health undersecretary Gerardo Bayugo said that OFWs who will be taken to the quarantine facilities at New Clark City in Capas town will have Internet access.

"May maglalagay ng Internet doon sa facility, they will be allowed to use their cellphones. Pero with some rules, kasi ayaw naman natin na sila pa 'yung magiging sakit ng ulo," Bayugo told reporters in a press briefing.

"They will be allowed to use that, but primarily to contact the family."

About 30 OFWs, including spouses and children, are scheduled to arrive at Clark International Airport on Sunday morning.

They will then be brought to the Athletes' Village in New Clark City, where they will stay for 14 days, but those who show flu-like symptoms will be sent to designated hospitals in San Fernando, Pampanga.

More than 700 people have died due to the new coronavirus in China while more than 34,000 others have been infected as of Saturday, Chinese authorities said.
