Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) officials have met local executives of Sulu to give them updates on the Jolo cathedral blast investigation.

Some residents want officials held responsible for the bombing, while other complained about the lockdown that is still enforced by the military on the streets of Jolo.

The AFP put Jolo on "lockdown" following the twin explosions. This means no one could leave the town or enter it without an ID.

Hundreds of motorists were stranded at checkpoints with no guarantee of passage.

The checkpoints loosened up as the days went by, but the military remained strict about the movement of rice and food items, especially the ones transported into the mountains.

Community leaders appealed to the AFP to ease the restrictions, or at least explain them better, especially regarding bringing supplies into their hinterland homes.

The AFP said they do this to starve out the Abu Sayyaf.

The religious leaders are also appealing for less restrictions, and are in fact requesting that soldiers stop guarding the grand mosque.

This was one request the military refused to give.

Some local leaders appealed to their colleagues for more understanding of the measures security forces have to take, but some are demanding that officers be held more accountable for the fact that the bombers managed to penetrate the well-guarded cathedral.

Measures are now being discussed that would place more surveillance cameras around Jolo.

And while authorities continue to dig for answers, some local leaders feel that only a Senate inquiry will be able to provide them the answers they need.

Interior secretary Eduardo Año concluded the twin bombings in Jolo is a case of suicide bombing, involving a yet-to-be identified Indonesian couple.

Año said the confirmation it was a suicide bombing came from post-blast and forensic survivors.

He also said the identification of the couple is on the process, but it may take time.

Año, likewise, said, the Indonesian government is willing to assist in the identification.
