PUERTO PRINCESA CITY- Some residents complain about the aggravating vehicular traffic in the city; others criticize the poor drainage system which leads to flooding in some areas.

These are only some of the problems Puerto Princesa locals face nowadays as the city undergoes rapid urbanization.

In order to avoid the mistake of some developed cities in the country, the city government has decided to hire prominent urban planner and architect Felino"Jun" Palafox, Jr. to create the City Master Development Plan.

Palafox and associates presented Thursday the master plan they created during the public consultation.

Palafox emphasized that a city without a plan will surely deteriorate and highlighted the protection of the environment in his designs.

He said he is awed by Puerto Princesa's natural beauty but the man-made structures are, at its present state, ugly.

According to the City Tourism, the creation of a master development plan is essential especially now that Puerto Princesa is gearing towards
ecologically-sound and sustainable tourism industry.

Meanwhile, residents hope that the City Master Development Plan will be implemented in no time.
