Veterinarians Romy and Percy Modomo found that the horse, Castaño, did not suffer any serious injury in the hit-and-run incident but may have "suffered great pain," PAWS shared in a Facebook post.

"The father-son veterinary team checked all of the animal's legs and was happy to report that the horse did not have any fracture or serious injury. Castaño though must have suffered great pain which led to loss of appetite and weakness for the past few days," the group wrote.

PAWS said Castaño was given painkillers and an anti-tetanus shot on Saturday night, and is expected to make a full recovery on Sunday.

According to witnesses, a Green Star passenger bus with body number 2205 and plate number ACD 4182 hit the horse which was drawing a calesa along Magsaysay Boulevard.

The group Lawyers for Commuters Safety and Protection has urged the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to suspend the license of the bus driver involved in the incident.
