PAMPANGA - House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was not surprised by the results of a recent survey that named her as the least trusted and approved government official.

"Those trust ratings are not new to me. Remember, I was pilloried very much when I was president," she said on the sidelines of her gift-giving activity in a coastal village in Sasmuan on Friday.

The former president turned Pampanga representative said she'd rather focus on her work than pay attention to it.

"So I haven’t done much to overcome that because I just have to do my work... I am not a stranger to that, to those kinds of trust ratings," she said.

A Pulse Asia survey released Friday reveals that Arroyo received a 27 percent approval rating and 21 percent trust rating.

She scored a 43 percent disapproval rating, the highest was recorded in the Visayas.

Her distrust rating was at 45 percent, the highest came from the National Capital Region.

President Rodrigo Duterte meanwhile remains to be the most popular official, with 81 percent approval rating and 76 percent trust rating.

He was followed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Vice President Leni Robredo.

Arroyo, who is on her last term as Pampanga representative, secured the speakership in July.

She was released from detention in June 2016 after the Supreme Court nullified evidence lodged against her in a plunder case. - with a report from Gracie Rutao, ABS-CBN News
