LA UNION - Eleven personnel from the La Union Police Provincial Office received commendations for successfully neutralizing Enrico "Icong” Magarde, a member of the notorious Marzan Drug Group.

Magarde was considered as the top 4 drug personality in the province.

A police team went to Camiling in Tarlac last week to serve three warrants of arrest to Magarde, who was allegedly involved in drugs and gun-for-hire activities and possession of firearms and explosives.

Marzan was killed during the incident.

Three of the eleven members of the responding teams of the PNP from La Union were wounded in the operation. They were Chief Insp. Bernard Pagaduan, who was hit by a bullet in his left thigh; PO2 Ryan Ponce, who was hit by a bullet in the neck; and Senior Insp. Juan Jhayar Maggay, Officer-In-Charge of Tubao Municipal Police Station, who was seriously wounded after the bullet was stuck in-between his heart and spinal cord.

The La Union Police Provincial Office considered the neutralization of Magarde as one of its biggest achievements.
