Duterte attends wake of Tribune founder Ninez Cacho-Olivares

MANILA—President Rodrigo Duterte attended the wake of Ninez Cacho-Olivares, founder of The Daily Tribune newspaper, at Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati, on Saturday.

Olivares, 78, died on Friday, Jan. 2, due to a lingering illness. She was cremated on the same day.

On Monday, a funeral mass will be held for Olivares at 9:30 a.m. at the chapel in Santuario de San Antonio. She will then be laid to rest beside the remains of her husband, Edgardo Olivares, at Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City.

A veteran journalist, Olivares wrote news articles, features and columns in various newspapers such as the Bulletin Today, Business Day, and Business World.

During the Marcos years, she was one of the female columnists of Bulletin Today who wrote pieces criticizing the Marcos couple.

During the latter years of her career, she worked as publisher and editor-in-chief of The Daily Tribune.
