ILOCOS SUR - Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Luis Singson on Tuesday announced that President-elect Rodrigo Duterte has given him his blessings to lead all the 81 governors across the country.

The 36-year-old governor, who ran unopposed in the recently concluded May 9 elections, said he is just waiting for the formality of his appointment during the first meeting of the Governor's League on July 21.

"May blessing na po ang ating presidente na tayo ang magiging pangulo ng Governor's League. Hinihintay na lang po natin ang pormal na botohan sa mga kasama kong gobernador," Singson told reporters.

Singson said Duterte endorsed him for the post during his visit to Davao City on June 4.

He said Duterte's first instruction for the Governor's League was to study how the different provinces will benefit from a federal form of government, which the incoming president has been campaigning for.

Meanwhile, the governor said Duterte also offered a position to his father, Luis "Chavit" Singson.

The older Singson, however, refused, saying he will concentrate on his new role as a municipal councilor in the town of Narvacan.
