When it comes to visa-free destinations, these are the most popular spots among Filipinos -- at least according to a booking platform.

Citing its booking data between January and April 2024, Agoda said that out of the 69 visa-free countries that Filipinos have access to based on the Henley Passport Index, these five destinations stood out: Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei, and Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement sent to ABS-CBN News, Agoda said these could be largely due to the availability of direct flights -- with seat sales making them more affordable -- as well as the variety of price points for accommodations.

Another factor to consider is the popularity of the key attractions and activities in these places -- such as Hong Kong's Disneyland, Singapore's Marina Bay Sands, Bangkok's Grand Palace, Taipei's night markets, and Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers.

"Hong Kong and Singapore are favorites among Filipino travelers for their seamless accessibility and abundant attractions," said Mike Hwang, Agoda's country director for the Philippines.

And while Agoda aims to continue offering reliable holiday offerings, Hwang also hopes that Filipinos will also consider checking out less-traveled visa-free destinations.

Among the booking platform's recommendations are Nantou in Taiwan, which is home to the picturesque Sun Moon Lake; Penang in Malaysia, with its street food and unique art scene; Krabi in Thailand, known for its pristine coastlines and more relaxed pace; Maldives, a tropical haven of idyllic atolls and luxurious resorts; and Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei, with its night markets and opulent mosques.
