The Philippines' tropical paradise of Palawan continues to impress travelers across the globe as it is once again included in Travel + Leisure's 2024 World's Best Awards.

It ranked 13th in the 25 Best Islands to Visit Around the World list, which is based on votes from the travel magazine's readers, with a score of 90.59.

At the top spot is Maldives, followed by Phu Quoc in Vietnam, Bali in Indonesia, Milos in Greece, and Dominica. (Check out the full list here.)

Naturally, Palawan is also part of Travel + Leisure's list of 5 Favorite Islands in Asia, placing fifth behind Maldives, Phu Quoc, Bali, and Thailand's Koh Samui.

"This award will serve as an inspiration to tourism stakeholders of the rest of our Philippine destinations, encouraging them to promote sustainable tourism and showcase the Philippines' unparalleled natural beauty and hospitality," Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said in a statement.

Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles, chief operating officer of the Tourism Promotions Board, for her part said: "This recognition is a testament to Palawan's extraordinary beauty and the unwavering dedication of our people to delivering exceptional experiences."

"We remain committed to preserving and promoting the island's natural and cultural heritage for generations to come," she added.

Palawan is known as a haven for nature enthusiasts with its pristine beaches, limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons, and lush rainforests.

Also found here is the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Those looking for cultural experiences can immerse themselves in the indigenous communities of the Batak and Tagbanua, while culinary enthusiasts can indulge in fresh seafood.
