MANILA - Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray revealed on Monday that she felt really nervous after the contestants were trimmed down to the top 5.

"Definitely after the top 5 question was answered. Just because when I looked around me, the women were of such high caliber and I felt that we all answered quite well, so I was like how are the judges going to cut us to three? So that was the point where I really felt the nerves," Gray told TV Patrol in a live interview.

She said her confidence was boosted by the support of her fans, Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike.

"Pero even so, when I would look out to the crowd, there is such a support there, as in you have to be there to feel it. Fellow Filipinos, the other fans, [they] just lift up my spirit," Gray said.

"So, I was really content in a way, na parang as long as I'm making my country proud, I've done my work," she added.

Gray won for the country its fourth Miss Universe crown on Monday in Bangkok, Thailand.

When asked what she did immediately after the pageant, Gray said she was whisked off from one place to another for photo shoots and interviews.

"I feel like day one of Miss Universe has started," she said.

Gray also said she has yet to process what happened, and it hasn't sunk in that she won the crown.

"Ilang months 'to, that lead up to this moment, and then the show itself, it feels like it just, ang bilis lang eh. So, to think that I won the title, parang I haven't even had time to process," she said.
