Ruben Nayusan, a 10 year-old Kalanguya boy from Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya has lost count of the distance already.

Born in the mountainous community of Barangay Balete, Ruben has been crossing mountains all his life. But that doesn’t guarantee his safety each time he crosses four mountains and two rivers just to get to school.

Treacherous cliffs and steep gorges surround the trail, and the changing weather in the mountains only worsens the already rough path Ruben has to cross.
