MANILA – Bernadette Sembrano and Gretchen Fullido were teary-eyed as they watched their alma mater, University of the Philippines (UP), beat Adamson University in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday.

Fellow “TV Patrol” anchor and UP alumnus Kim “Kuya Kim” Atienza documented the emotional moment in a video he shared on his Twitter page on Thursday.

“Masisira ‘yung makeup ko!” said Fullido, a former courtside reporter for UP, as she wiped away her tears.

Sembrano, meanwhile, can be seen throwing her fist in the air as she cheered for her school.

Also seen in the video is long-time “TV Patrol” anchor Noli de Castro, who is a graduate of the University of the East.

Atienza asked De Castro to react to UP’s win, with the latter saying in jest: “Eh pagbigyan na natin, mag-40 taon nang hindi nakakatikim eh.”

Fullido also posted a video on Twitter showing her and Sembrano moments after UP won.

The two anchors, who were still in the “TV Patrol” studio, said they feel like they’ve already won the championship.

UP is set to face defending champion Ateneo de Manila University for the UAAP finals on Saturday in what has been dubbed the “Battle of Katipunan.”
