The animated COD, or "Christmas on display," returns to San Juan, albeit in a different venue.

The San Juan city government recently launched its own animated Christmas display within its grounds, featuring Filipino holiday traditions and city landmarks.

Greenhills Shopping Center previously housed the annual tradition, but stopped showing the animated display last year.

The display of lights, sounds, and moving mannequins can be traced back to the 1950s in the façade of Manila C.O.D. Department Store in Cubao, Quezon City, as the creation of Alex Rosario Sr.

When the department store closed down in the early 2000s, Greenhills adopted the moving Christmas display.

The tradition continues with his son, Rey, and his company, Rosario Animated Display, which was tapped to put up the animated show in front of the San Juan city hall.

Simultaneously, the Christmas display returns to Cubao with the theme, "Christmas Comes Home", located at Times Square Food Park and is set to launch on Friday, November 23.

The animated Christmas display in San Juan is open to the public with shows running from 6 p.m. to midnight at 15-minute intervals until January 6, 2019.
