MANILA – Lea Salonga revealed that she is planning to stage a concert early next year which might coincide with her birthday in February.

“No big concerts this year. I’m thinking of doing one next year. My mom wants to do one, she wants to produce one. I think we are currently in the process of preparing for it,” she revealed in a press conference last week.

According to Salonga, she already knows who her stage and musical directors will be but they have yet come up with the “artistic decisions” of the concert.

“It’s just who will we get as guests, what will be our repertoire. These are decisions that I’ll have to make with my director and musical director. We are planning it for early next year. It will be nice,” she said.

Aside from the concert and her stage comeback via the musical “Fun Home” this month, Salonga said there is nothing much that keeps her hands full.

Asked if she will still be a mentor in the next season of “The Voice of the Philippines,” Salonga said: “I’d like to if they want me. ABS-CBN, if you still want me for ‘The Voice,’ I will make myself available.”

Among her projects, Salonga said she really loves doing the program because it gives talented people an opportunity to start a career.

“I love being able to mentor people and in a way kind of paying forward all the training and all the mentoring that has been done for me,” she said.

“Even if you don’t win, it’s a great launching pad from which to get your career off the ground. I think there have been quite a few artists that have been on the show who even though they did not take home the trophy, have been able to carve out significant careers for themselves. It makes me happy,” she added.

Salonga has been a mentor on the show for five seasons. ABS-CBN has yet to announce when “The Voice of the Philippines” will return on television.
