MANILA – The reign of Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa has officially begun.

On Tuesday, the Filipina beauty queen gave her social media followers a glimpse of her first tasks as Miss International, which include visiting a pearl farm and attending a women’s entrepreneurship forum.

Verzosa is still in Japan, where the Miss International 2016 coronation night was held.

“Joined a panel of six Japanese women CEOs of their own company to discuss the problems of women in the workforce, a problem still relevant in modern society today,” she wrote. “It may not be evident to you but many women are still suffering from sexual discrimination.”

“I think we as women and men need to work together to fight for equal rights. Be more assertive and fight for what we stand for,” she added. “We shared our hopes and dreams for the future, for our country. I couldn’t be any happier. Thank you for having me.”

In another Instagram post, Verzosa compared the process of cultivating a pearl to her journey as a beauty queen.

“We picked our own pearls from cultivated oysters. Just like a person, it takes time and pressure to cultivate a perfect pearl, over two years! The same amount of time (and pressure) I spent training for Miss International,” she wrote.

Verzosa is the sixth Filipina to bring home the Miss International crown for the Philippines.
