MANILA -- Check out some of the latest news and promos in the local food scene.

1. Shrimp feast at Blue Posts for only P911 for 2

Starting this week, Blue Posts is offering unlimited bags of shrimps sautéed and served in three signature sauces - Sambal, Boiled, and Garlic Lemon Butter - for P911, good for two people only.

The 911 Shrimp Fever promo is the latest treat from this homegrown Davao seafood restaurant, which is extending its footprint outside Mindanao.

Blue Posts currently has three branches in Davao City (Bajada, Lanang Business Park, and SM Ecoland) and three in Metro Manila (SM North EDSA The Block, SM Mall of Asia, and O Square Green Hills). Three branches are under way in the next 12 months and the latest addition will be in Seascape Village, Pasay City opening in December 2017.

The promo is valid for dine-in only. The three sauces will be served at once. Refill will only be allowed until it is fully consumed.

It is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (first batch) and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (second batch), Monday to Friday, from October 30 to December 8, 2017.

2. Renovated Italianni's reopens in Bonifacio High Street

The newly renovated restaurant of Italianni’s at Bonifacio High Street in Taguig has reopened and now sports a combination of modern interiors melding with old-world charm. A bigger bar is located by the entrance, encouraging guests to hang out with family friends, chill and have a drink or two.

“At Italanni’s, we find ways to keep up with the changing times in the food and restaurant landscape. And with this fresher look, we look forward to celebrating another decade of serving our guests,” says Guia Abuel, VP for Operations.

Italianni’s BHS is open Sunday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 12 midnight and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m.

3. Myron’s marks anniversary with new menu

To celebrate Myron's first anniversary in its new location at Ascott Makati, the restaurant has updated its menu with a mix of old reliables and exciting new dishes.

Noticeable standouts of the 21 new creations include Chipirones Fritos served with a squid ink aioli; Handmade Spinach Fettuccine with chorizo, mussels, shrimps and oregano (in photo); Coriander White Snapper with a röesti cannelloni filled with spinach and mushrooms and a number of oyster recipes.

A new wine list was also created in careful consideration of the new recipes in the menu. For example, the Domaine Mittnacht Frères Cuvée Gyotaku pairs quite well with the Black Tiger Prawns with San Francisco Garlic Noodles.

The menu also presents an array of new desserts that include a chocolate creation called The Magnificent Mr. C.; Songbird, a Grand Marnier mousse in a chocolate case with caramel crunch; Shine, a lemon curd crème brulee; and Once on this Island, a Nutella crémeux with balls of mango, kiwi and watermelon, and a quenelle of mango yogurt.

4. New additions to Marco Polo's Cucina

Marco Polo Ortigas Manila’s Cucina has added a new spread at the
"Signature Dishes station" at the all-day dining restaurant.

The new dishes include Caribbean Jerk Chicken with mango, coriander, coconut, and chili salsa; braised Angus Beef with mushrooms, bacon, and shallots in red wine sauce; and fillet of Sea Bass, with tomatoes, basil, and olives.

5. TGIFridays Greenbelt bartender to compete at World Bartender Championship

Jolan Penafiel, a bartender from TGIFridays Greenbelt, bagged the top spot at the recent TGIFridays Asia-Pacific Bartending Championship held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Larry Tsai of Taiwan was first runner-up, while Ken Miyamoto of Japan finished second runner-up.

Penafiel will represent Asia-Pacific at the prestigious TGFriday’s World Bartender Championship to be held in the Dallas, Texas.

“It was an honor to represent the Philippines at the regional tilt; that was why I really gave it my best shot into this once in a lifetime opportunity amidst the really tough competition,” said the 24-year old champion.

Should Penafiel win at the World Barchamps, she will be the second Filipina to be bestowed the much-coveted the title, following in the footsteps of Rizza Umlas who was adjudged champion at the World Bartender Championship held at the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas in 2015.
