MANILA -- Tourists usually visit Ilocos Norte for its beautiful sights, but many of them also search for places that will satisfy their food cravings.

Ilocos Heritage and Good Vibes by Geronimo Travel Café in Laoag City is perfect for those who want to chill and enjoy a good bite.

This travel cafe, a first in the province, features dishes named after the top tourist destinations of Ilocos Norte.

"Gusto namin na kung matikman nila 'yung mga food namin, e parang napuntahan na rin nila 'yung mga tourist destinations," said the cafe's co-owner, C-joy Salvador.

(When they taste our food, we want them to feel like they have visited our tourist destinations.)

For instance, the must-see Kapurpurawan Rock Formation in the town of Burgos was interpreted as a pasta dish, with the white and creamy sauce representing the color of the rocks.

Another bestseller here is the Patapat Pasta topped with longganisa and basil, a dish named after Patapat Viaduct in Pagudpud.

Pasta lovers can try the red Malacañang of the North Pasta topped with bagnet which symbolizes the political color of the Marcos family.

The cafe also serves sandwiches such as Adams Banana and Nutella Delight, and Calle Crisologo.

Cut into triangles, the Adams Sandwich represents the mountainous town of Adams in Ilocos Norte. The Calle Crisologo sandwich, on the other hand, gives a glimpse of the famous Vigan City street with the brick-like texture and color of the bread.

For dessert, order the Sand Dunes Icebox named after the sand dunes in Paoay and Laoag City.

Even the beverages are named after Ilocos Norte's attractions, with the Kabigan Infused Water and Agua Grande representing the refreshing vibe of the Kabigan Falls and Agua Grande Mini-Hydro plant, respectively. Get refreshed with Kabigan's mix of fresh lemon, cucumber, basil, calamansi and honey; and Agua Grande's combination of carrots and dill.

Salvador hopes their concept can attract more tourists to visit Ilocos Norte and make them come back.

"When you eat, gusto mo nga naman is fulfilling, satisfying. One of our missions din talaga is for the young generation to spread good vibes," said Salvador.

(When you eat, of course you would want it to be fulfilling and satisfying. We want the younger generation to spread good vibes.)
