CLARK FREEPORT -- Goeran Soelter is no stranger to the Oktoberfest as he has organized the beer festival in many other countries and cities before coming to the Philippines as the general manager of the Clark Marriott Hotel.

Soelter, who is of German descent, definitely knows what goes into an authentic Oktoberfest party.

“You’re going to have beer from Bavaria, you’re going to have an original Oktoberfest show band. There will be games, there will be fantastic food, and there will be great beer,” assured Soelter on Wednesday as he gave the media a preview of the hotel’s two-day beer festival, which will be held on October 11 and 12 starting at 6 p.m.

For this Oktoberfest, the hotel partnered up with Weihenstephan for its free-flowing beer. This Freising-based brewery, which is credited as the oldest in the world, is bringing its light crisp beer that pairs well with the Clark Marriot’s special buffet of sausages, sauerkraut, pork knuckles, pretzels, and other German beer hall favorites.

A beer festival won’t be complete without dancing, music and merriment. Leading the nights’ revelry will be the acclaimed Oktoberfest showband Anton Show with its high-energy brand of beer hall merrymaking complete with hand organ music and wooden spoon percussions. The band has toured around Asia and will be performing in the Philippines for the first time.
