MANILA -- Film and TV actor Baron Geisler will star in his first-ever musical as Tikbalang/Amerikano in Tanghalang Pilipino's upcoming rock sarwela "Aurelio Sedisyoso."

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday, Geisler admitted that he is nervous about his stage debut, especially since it is outside of his comfort zone.

They're really terrific actors. I'm not a singer, you know it's sort of hard for me," Geisler said.

The actor said he auditioned to be part of the musical, which stars David Ezra who plays the lead role of Aurelio Tolentino.

Geisler said it was his discoverer who asked him to try theater.

"Noong time na 'yon I was sulking and depressed kasi kamamatay lang ng mommy ko. So sabi ko it's time for me to move on or move forward and I said yes. Twice ako nag-audition for them. So I'm so grateful sa Tanghalang Pilipino, 'yung sa kabuuan po," Geisler said.

"It was mind-blowing.

According to Geisler, they are now rehearsing every day for the original musical, which will run at the Bulwagang Aurelio Tolentino of the Cultural Center of the Philippines from September 1 to 17.

"Committed naman po ako sa lahat. Nandoon 'yung natututo po ako, 'yung pakikisama, pagmamahalan and I fell in love again sa craft. Kasi may ginagawa akong movie 'yung kay direk Brillante Mendoza, 'yung "Right To Kill.' When I'm there. I'm very relaxed, I know what I'm doing. Here, I always second-guess myself, which is a big no-no. But I'm not here to fail. Lalaban ako," Geisler said.

In a separate interview, director Chris Millado said they took Geisler to be part of the production after the actor agreed to their conditions.

We took his word for it, kaya namin siya tinanggap," Millada shared.

Millado also admitted that like him the whole production also feels nervous about Geisler.

So far, mukhang sinusunod niya. So far so good," Millado said.

Here's a sneak peek of the musical as Geisler performed some of his scenes during the press conference.
