MANILA – Keen on helping women look and feel good, “Bagani” actress Dimples Romana inked another business deal, this time with Asia’s Lashes, an established professional eyelash extension studio.

“Talagang nakaka-empower when you wake up in the morning and when you look in the mirror… kapag maganda na ang pilik-mata, maganda ka na agad, di ba? Kahit walang make-up,” she shared.

Having been an endorser for Asia’s Lashes for five years, Romana decided to become a “mompreneur” because she has seen how the company operates.

“The staff really prioritizes women’s feelings so when you go to an Asia’s Lashes branch, they make sure you to feel good about yourself and the choices you’re going to make,” she narrated. “It wasn’t a hard decision for me because when you can trust a brand, you really stay with them.”

According to Romana, it’s important for women to “physicalize the inspiration” by engaging in some me-time pampering.

“We have to physicalize being inspired, and that means putting a little bit of lipstick on, putting eyelash extensions, and just coloring your hair. Changing your look and your feelings will follow,” she said.

“When people tell you you look different today, you look good… that affirmation and validation will give you that certain push to keep going.”

Romana shared that this was one of the things that helped her overcome feeling sad for no apparent reason in 2015, after giving birth to son Alonzo. “After I gave birth to Alonzo, parang depressed ako… I remember telling Boyet: ‘My love, parang I feel sad today,” she said.

The actress was able to overcome the episode with the help of her husband, who would do small things to make her happy.

But she knew it wasn’t enough—she also has to do something for herself.

“I try to be positive because no matter how beautiful you are, if you are empty inside, it’s also different. You have to radiate that happiness,” she said. “It really is an inside job, you have to feel good to show it.”

Three years after, Romana wants to also support other women through this new business venture.

“I feel more empowered when I have my own life, when I have my own activities,” she said. “When I feel empowered as a woman first, that’s when I feel empowered as a mom and as a wife.”

At the moment, Romana loves the new Sakura Mink Eyelash extension from Japan for its natural-looking finish: “What you want for your lash extensions is to look natural and to look like it’s really a part of your body.”

She also advised that eyelash extensions should not be itchy and heavy on the peepers, and should not fall off when you’re cleaning it.

“My worst eyelash story happened to me eight years ago. I was cleaning my eyelashes then it suddenly fell off. So pagtingin ko sa salamin, hindi talaga pantay ‘yung mata ko,” she recalled. “That never happened to me with Asia’s Lashes.”

Asia’s Lashes first opened in 2013 and has 12 branches nationwide. The company will soon open branches in Cebu City, Quezon City, and Parañaque City, and will offer microblading by January 2019.

Apart from managing the business, Romana continues her acting career. After “Bagani,” she will be part of “Block Z,” a zombie movie starring Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto.

A self-proclaimed big dreamer, Romana hopes to open a school one day. “I really want to be able to share and teach but that’s a long way from now, like 10-20 years pa. I need to learn more, I’m thinking of opening up a school to teach what I know, and basically something that will be unique for women, or maybe for children.”
