MANILA — Refinery, the day-to-night neighborhood spot at Rockwell, has opened its second branch at Promenade Mall in Greenhills, taking over the spot of Eric Kayser.

Regulars of the French boulangerie, however, can still enjoy its breads and pastries like the croissants, cookies and financiers, which have been incorporated into the Refinery menu and are still prominently displayed. But the restaurant’s look has been changed to match the modern rustic vibe of the original branch with plenty of wood accents and industrial fixtures.

Rockwell favorites such as the Hangover Pasta and the Eggs Benedict, are also on the menu, as well as its tea and coffee concoctions, which are still the main come-ons of this relaxed, third-wave coffee place.

As Refinery expands its footprint in the metro, more dishes are also being developed as the menu continuously evolves.

Here are some of the new items you can expect to enjoy at Refinery, both in Greenhills and Rockwell.

1. Chorizo croquettas

This can be enjoyed either as an appetizer or bar chow. The chorizo is full of flavor such that you may not want to share it with your drinking buddies. Now available.

2. Messy Egg Sandwich

Fairly simple fried egg sandwich topped with Refinery’s famous crispy potato strings for a light breakfast or snack. Available soon.

3. The Parm

Here’s a more upscale choice that also works as breakfast fare or as a snack. This doesn’t scrimp on the Parma ham, while the asparagus spears and the cheese cubes make it a complete meal that it can even work as a light lunch. Now available.

4. Purgatorio

This rustic dish also works in various occasions, like a light meal or as a more hearty accompaniment while drinking red wine with friends. The grilled chorizo, as mentioned earlier, is top-notch while the poached eggs add richness. Needs a bit more heat (given its name). Now available.

5. Salmon Risotto

A welcome addition to the rather limited mains menu. This classic dish offers a non-meat alternative to Steak and Eggs (really the only other ‘main’ dish on offer), well executed with clean and light flavors. Available soon.

6. Soft Shell Crab Po' Boy

A more hearty sandwich alternative for those who want to skip meat. The crunchy crab provides a nice texture contrast and matches well with the bun. Available soon.

7. Coddled Eggs

Forget kaya toast! This is a quintessential comfort food, the type you want to eat on a lazy, cold day while still in your flannel pajamas. Mix the eggs with the truffled mashed potatoes with just the right pinch of chilis flakes and use as a dip for the bread. Available soon.
