MANILA -- After 47 years, the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) has gone online.

NAMCYA, held in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, is accepting applications for various categories through its website.

This year's national finals competition, titled "Tingog sa Paglaum" (Sounds of Hope), will run from November 24 to 29.

In a statement, NAMCYA president Dr. Renato Lucas said they have decided to hold the competition online to reach out to more Filipino talents.

"The decision to conduct the competition online expresses NAMCYA's effort to find resonance with today's young Filipino musical artists who are increasingly turning to digital technology to find a venue for their talents," he said.

Established in 1973, NAMCYA has helped launch the careers of performers such as Rowena Arrieta, Coke Bolipata, Andion Fernandez, and Rachelle Gerodias.

It covers different areas of musical performance such as choral singing, piano, chamber music, family ensemble, and indigenous instruments.
