MANILA — As the ubiquitous meme “Daniela the Explorer,” Dimples Romana, in a glamorous red dress and with a matching luggage in tow, has explored the farthest corners of the Philippines, both little-known and world-renowned.

That’s about to come true as Romana joins a program of Department of Tourism, promoting tourist destinations across the country.

Romana, 34, met Tourism secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat on Monday, as seen in photos published by the Department of Tourism on Facebook.

“An art enthusiast and a self-confessed museum lover,” Romana will collaborate with the government agency to “help promote lesser-known destinations, museums and heritage sites, and advocate for sustainable tourism,” it said.

The group confirmed with ABS-CBN News that Romana will serve as a volunteer advocate of its tourism efforts.
