MANILA – Times Higher Education (THE) has released its first Asia-Pacific university rankings, and the Philippines barely made the cut.

The University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City is the lone Philippine entry in THE’s list released on Tuesday, managing to get into the 200+ bracket.

The Asia-Pacific rankings feature over 200 universities from 13 countries.

At No. 1 is National University in Singapore, followed by Peking University (China), University of Melbourne (Australia), Tsinghua University (China) and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).

Japan is the most-represented nation with 69 universities featured, including University of Tokyo at ninth place.

UP Diliman was also the only Philippine representative in THE’s World University Rankings in 2016, landing in the 801+ bracket of 980 institutions topped by the United Kingdom’s University of Oxford.
