MANILA — Like many who have had to adjust to life under the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, actress Bea Alonzo admitted Monday she is still learning to cope with sudden isolation.

On Instagram, Alonzo shared she has been chronicling her "thoughts and reflections during the quarantine."

Sharing a photo of her writing on a notebook, she said: "It's funny how sometimes, you can surprise yourself on how your mood changes and how you cope with the sudden isolation."

"I have to say, this is no different from how I used to make a 'character plan' whenever I'm getting to know a particular character, may it be for a TV series or a new movie, only this time, I am getting to know... ME. It's been a journey."

In another post, Alonzo spoke of being aware of one's reaction to a situation, and assessing which she can and should act on or recognize as something out of her control.

"In these difficult times, we must learn how to adapt. We have to accept the fact that there are things that we cannot change and that we need to focus on what we can control, our minds, and how we react to our current circumstances," she said.

"As the saying goes, 'The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you’re made of, not the circumstances.'"

Addressing her followers with words of encouragement, she added: "I know you are resilient and that you will overcome this. Kaya mo yan!"

Alonzo has been a visible figure during the coronavirus lockdown, having formed the relief organization I Am Hope. In May, the group's fundraiser reached P9 million in cash and in-kind donations.

By the end of May, I Am Hope reached 44 hospitals and 36 communities, with Alonzo personally delivering supplies or meals in a number of those locations.
