MANILA – The two-day online run of the “Ang Huling El Bimbo” musical last May 8 and 9 has raised a total of P12 million in donations for ABS-CBN's Pantawid ng Pag-ibig program.

Producer Full House Theater Company announced the figure though its Facebook page on Monday as it thanked everyone who watched the show and donated at the same time.

“Kami ngayo'y lumilipad at nasa langit na... dahil sa tindi ng inyong naging suporta! Salamat sa lahat ng nag-donate! Marami po tayong matutulungan dahil dito,” it wrote in the caption.

This was the first time the full production of "Ang Huling El Bimbo" was put online for free. Before this, the musical had more than 100 shows at Resorts World Manila's Newport Performing Arts Theater.

The fundraising campaign of offering the show online for two days straight was in partnership with ABS-CBN, for the benefit of the families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ang Huling El Bimbo,” based on the hits of iconic OPM band Eraserheads, garnered a total of 7 million views online in 48 hours.

While it was only digitally available for two days, people were still able to donate until the close of business hours on May 15.

"Ang Huling El Bimbo" is an original attempt in telling a tragic story that is relevant, insightful and at times provocative -- one that also serves as a tribute to the timelessness of the band's discography. It blends together elements of a musical and a rock concert.
