MANILA – We all know that chef and TV host Anthony Bourdain will return to the Philippines later this month for the World Street Food Congress (WSFC).

It was previously reported that Bourdain will be a speaker at the event and “will provide the latest update on the highly anticipated Bourdain Market in New York.”

But did you know that he will also be here to look for potential food vendors and partners?

According to organizers, Bourdain is looking to complete his lineup of 100 world food stalls in the highly anticipated Bourdain Market set to open in New York in 2019.

He will hold a town hall-style gathering during the WSFC, which is open firstly to Dialogue ticket holders. All others will be on a waiting list and on a first-come, first-served basis.

"He’ll draw a ruckus!" predicts Singapore's KF Seetoh, who was tapped as a consultant in Bourdain Market.

Seetoh told ABS-CBN News that Bourdain will be coming to Manila "to talk to potential partners, vendors and sponsors."

"He wants it to be a cross between Taiwan’s street food market and Singapore’s hawker centers. That’s the easy part. The fun part is travelling around the world to look for those 100 hawkers. So definitely, some must be from the Philippines!" Seetoh said.

This year’s WSFC will be held from May 31 to June 4 at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Pasay City. -- Report from Joko Magalong
