MANILA – Jodi Sta. Maria takes pride that she and her former husband Pampi Lacson are able to set aside their differences to become good parents to their son Thirdy.

"I think, at one point in life, you just have to forget some things that happened in your life. You just have to be selfless,” she said in an interview at the sidelines of the press conference of her upcoming film “Man and Wife.”

Sta. Maria, however, stressed that it would not have been possible for the two of them to be in a good relationship now “if we didn’t have God in our lives.”

“It's really possible. I would always say, hindi naman ito kaila, na it has only become possible through the grace of God. If we didn't have God in our lives, I don't think that we will be to reach this point in our relationship," she said.

While they failed together as husband and wife, Sta. Maria said they are both doing their best in co-parenting Thirdy.

“We may not be together as partners, but we can co-parent our child in the best way we can, to be able to give him not only a bright future, but also to show him that despite the situation, kumbaga, magkakatuwang pa rin kami sa pagpapalaki sa kanya,” she said.

When asked how she actually put this to practice, Sta. Maria said: “I put Thirdy first, what he needs. And I think that is what parenting is all about.”
