MANILA -- From the same folks who set up Buendia Food by the Court comes Taft Food by the Court, a bigger and more ambitious food park.

Located near the intersection of EDSA and Taft Avenue, this former bus depot is located in a relatively remote part of Pasay City with no establishments around except for the occasional convenience store.

Besides basketball and food, the owners are also promoting badminton, volleyball, and table tennis, as well as music by setting up family videoke booths around the courts. The facility has three multi-use courts and space for 30 concessionaires.

Apparently, business has been good for Buendia Food by the Court. “We didn’t expect that success even for a short period. We’ve caught up already and we’ve achieved a certain goodwill as owners and operators of a food park,” said SUDECO president Paul Elauria.

SUDECO has brought over learnings from the vendors at Buendia Food by the Court. “We advised the merchants, the boodle and sharing, concentrate on fewer items. We limited the number of items they can serve to focus on quality,” remarked Jocelyn De Leon, SUDECO chairman of the board.

The food park is currently on opening. Not all of the booths have been occupied but they expect 100% occupancy by mid-year. Even at this stage, the food park and courts have become popular as several hotels and government agencies have held parties and sportsfests here.

Taft Food by the Court gives special attention to students. They have a special 20% student discount on court rental rates. Furthermore, they offer bigger price cuts for public schools in the area that would like to use the court for PE classes.

SUDECO is such a believer in the concept that they are building another “by the court” somewhere in Quezon City.

Here’s a preview of the food tenants in Taft Food by the Court.

Finally to accompany all that food, every food park needs a stall that serves ice cold beverages.
