MANILA — They may have been forced to stay at home, but that doesn’t mean that the makers and those involved in the popular British musical, “Eugenius!,” about a teenage comic-writing genius who dreams of becoming a superhero, aren’t here to “spread some joy in our homes.”

On Instagram, Ben Adams, the A1 band member who co-wrote the musical with Chris Wilkins, announced that they will be releasing full archived footage of one of their shows at London’s Other Palace online for their fans in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines.

The watch party is scheduled on YouTube at 6 p.m. this March 27, Friday. Below is the link:

According to Adams, the footage was not intended for public viewing, but “there has never been a more important time to bring the joy of live theater right to your doorstep.”

Their other goal, he said, is to raise funds for Acting for Others, a charity organization in the UK dedicated to helping those who work in the theater industry, especially in times of crisis.

As of Thursday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has reached more than 470,000. The UK has more than 9,500.

“Eugenius!” is a musical, which first debuted in 2018, about a young teen from America who writes comic books. His work then gets picked up by a Hollywood production company to get made into a movie. Havoc ensues, however, when his creations come to life.
