ABRA - An electric fan made of 80 percent bamboo was one of the creations featured at Abra's Centennial Bazaar.

It was one of the 13 innovation products from the different municipalities in the province. The bamboo electric fan was made in Tubo, Abra.

Major parts were made of bamboo, and the material covers the motor assembly running the fan as well. The wire was covered with rattan, and the base was plywood covered with bamboo

Daniel Daagdag, municipal agriculturist of Tubo explained that the idea came from the municipal employees.

"Ito po ay gawa sa kawayan, mga rattan, at mga ugat ng kawayan mismo. Iyong stand sa pinakababa, ugat ng kawayan. Iyong pedestal, plywood tapos pinatungan ng kawayan," he said.

(It is made of bamboo, rattan, and the roots of bamboo. The stand at the bottom was made from bamboo roots. The pedestal was plywood covered with bamboo.)

The prototype product was made by two people in 1 week.

Another interesting find was the adjustable bamboo rocking chair from Tayum, Abra. It had a built-in tray and a stereo holder on the side.

There were also bamboo dividers, frog-shaped hampers, trophies and picture frames made of bamboo.

"From mga products natin na regular, dapat mag-imbento rin tayo ng mga produkto na bago para naman may makita yung mga tao,” said Arell F. Bañez, provincial director of the Department of Trade and Industry.

(From the products that we regularly see, we should innovate so people would see new things.)

One Town One Product (OTOP) of municipalities that excel in the long woven, furniture, and food sectors were also shown in the bazaar. There were 81 sectors of these in Abra.

The bazaar was slated to run until March 12.
