MANILA – One is a former Miss Universe contestant, the other is an openly gay comedian.

MJ Lastimosa and Negi last worked together on the ABS-CBN show “Game ng Bayan,” which concluded last year, but the two remain close friends.

In an interview on the Kapamilya morning talk show “Magandang Buhay,” Lastimosa shared how she appreciates her friendship with Negi, known to many as Vice Ganda’s sidekick.

The beauty queen said she tends to prefer having gays as friends, having worked with a lot of them during her pageant days.

“Naging kagaanan ko na talaga ng loob ‘yung mga beki,” she said. “Minsan nga mas preference ko na eh kasama sila sa araw-araw.”

She added that Negi makes her feel “light and happy,” especially when she is dealing with problems. “Lalo na ‘pag may problem aka na ayaw mong masyadong isipin, ‘pag kasama mo hindi mo na maiisip ‘yung mga bagay na ‘yon,” she explained.

Negi, for his part, described Lastimosa as motherly, noting that the beauty queen never fails to remind him to take care of his family and manage his finances.

“Iyong advice niya sa akin tungkol sa family ko, [na] mag-ipon, lagi niyang sinasabi ‘yun. [Sinasabi niya sa akin na] huwag munang mag-boyfriend. Parang nanay siya,” added Negi, who refers to Lastimosa as his “kambal.”
