MANILA -- If you think milk tea is fattening and unhealthy, GoodGoodPH is here to change to your mind.

Hailing from Ximending in Taiwan, GoodGoodPH recently opened its fifth branch in Banawe, Quezon City.

“I started in fashion, and I wanted to provide something fresh. Some people ask me why I look younger than my age, since I drink these drinks every day. It’s because we don’t use powder, we use real tea. We only use fresh ingredients, fresh milk, fresh fruits. That’s why we call these drinks, beauty drinks,” said Ting Hsu-Wei, president of GoodGood Taiwan.

This "beauty drinks" concept does translate fully in the menu, which features a lot of fruit.

There’s the Sunset Tea which as the name implies is bright and citrusy, featuring orange, grapefruit, and passionfruit mixed with tea. If you like things icier, there’s the smoothie menu where multi-layered icy cups of frozen fruit are the norm like the Strawberry Blonde which has frozen orange and strawberry layers with chia seeds.

Fruit is also paired with cream cheese for a sweet and tangy affair in drinks like the Berry Brilliant with Cream Cheese. Other notable drinks in this cream cheese menu also include the always crowd-pleasing Chocolate with Cream Cheese and for the tea lover, the Black Tea with Cream Cheese.

Where’s the milk tea? you might ask. The classics section has got you covered with the ever-present selections of wintermelon, Okinawa and brown sugar milk teas, which uses only fresh milk for a healthier cup.

“We use only fresh milk. We also only use a natural sugar from Taiwan [for our brown sugar]. It’s yellow sugar which has a different taste when its used to make our [brown sugar] milk teas,” said Naville Lim, owner of GoodGoodPH.

The Double B (brown sugar and milk) and the Triple B (brown sugar milk tea) are not cloyingly sweet, as you could still taste the creamy freshness of the milk, especially in the Double B.

“I wanted to bring a new version of a drink shop, and we want to provide something special,” said Ting.

While in Taiwan they also offer accessories like t-shirt and caps, the Philippine branches have "a sip and charge" station as its extra offering where power banks and electrical outlets are available for customer’s devices. Just present a valid ID to borrow a unit.

In Manila where there are already milk tea options aplenty, GoodGoodPH is slowly but surely managing to create a presence northside of Manila -- and it’s all thanks to their beauty drinks.

GoodGoodPH also has branches on Scout Tobias, Quezon City; Sta. Maria, Bulacan; Sapphire Road, Ortigas Center; and Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong.
