1st ASEANnale to celebrate diversity, plurality of ASEAN

MANILA -- The ASEAN Biennale 2018 will bring together different perspectives and narratives from academics, experts, filmmakers, multimedia artists and scholars from ASEAN countries for a festival of ideas happening later this month.

With the theme "Capturing the Spirit of ASEAN in the Digital Times," the ASEANnale 2018 will celebrate unique ASEAN ideas in three specia; events - the 1st Film and Multimedias Competion and Exhibition, the 2nd International Symposium on ASEAN Studies, and the ASEANnale Distinguished Award for Higher Education.

"ASEANnale 2018 is a festival of ideas in multi-modal and multi-textual spaces," said Dr. Grace J. Alfonso, ASEANnale 2018 Organizing Committee chair.

The event is envisioned to be a space where scholars, artists, academics and experts can share their thoughts, collaborate and build networks of ASEAN higher education students and faculty.

The three-day conference will showcase select creative and research works of higher education students and faculty from the 10 ASEAN countries.

Interested applicants can submit their films, multimedia presentations, posters and papers until February 9 at 5 p.m. (Manila time).

ASEANnale 2018 will be held on February 28 to March 2 at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

It is a project of the Commission on Higher Education, the University of the Philippines Open University, UP Diliman Asian Center, the College of Mass Communication UP Diliman, TVUP, and the UP System, in collaboration with the UP Open University Foundation, Inc. and the Philippines Communication Society.
