MANILA (UPDATED) - The spokesperson of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has revealed the members of the presumptive president-elect's transition team.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, Peter Laviña identified six individuals, including himself, as members of the Duterte Transition Committee:

  • Leoncio Jun Evasco, campaign manager;
  • Christopher "Bong" Go, assistant campaign manager and executive assistant;
  • Carlos Dominguez, former Cabinet member and head of Duterte's campaign finance committee;
  • Salvador Medialdea, Duterte's personal lawyer;
  • Loreto Ata, personal lawyer; and
  • Peter Laviña, spokesperson.

Laviña earlier said Duterte's transition committee will be composed of four teams:

  • an over-all committee,
  • a policy group that would draft his plans in his first 100 days,
  • a selection committee that will select his Cabinet, and
  • an inauguration committee that will prepare ceremonies for his assumption into office.

Speaking to reporters, Go said the members of the transition team met today to initially discuss their tasks.

"Ang pinagusapan namin, una, siyempre itong mga dokumento na itu-turn over ng present administration to the incoming administration, and then ano yung mga positions na dapat i-fill up para gumana po yung incoming administration," said Go.

"Siyempre kailangan natin Day 1, magtatrabaho na yan. Hindi pwedeng Day 1, saka tayo maga-appoint."

The Aquino administration is also preparing its own transition team that will pave the way for Duterte's assumption to office.

President Benigno Aquino III has assigned Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa to head the committee.

"I talked to Mr. Bong Go yesterday to relay to Mayor Duterte that an Administrative Order (AO) is being drafted designating the Executive Secretary as head of the transition team. I further offered that the Cabinet stands ready to brief his team on any and all of their concerns. Lastly we are committed to effecting the smoothest transition possible," said Aquino.

According to Go, they have yet to talk to Ochoa. Duterte's transition committee will meet again on Thursday, he said.

Duterte, meanwhile, already has a few names in mind to appoint as members of the Cabinet, two of whom are members of his transition team.

Duterte is eyeing Dominguez, who served as agriculture secretary during the administration of the late President Corazon Aquino, to be the next finance secretary.

Businessman Art Tugade, who also hails from Davao, is being eyed to become trade and industry secretary while Atty. Jesus Dureza will head the peace process.

Laviña and Atty. Sal Panelo will handle Duterte's media relations.

"The mayor has already stated in the past to get the best and the brightest among our people especially those who will be dedicated to real changes," Laviña said.
