The PMPC Star Awards for Movies celebrated its 40th year in the entertainment industry with a grand event held at the Henry Lee Theater at Ateneo de Manila University. The star-studded affair honored some of the biggest names in the Philippine film industry with the Dekada Awards, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the art of acting.

Legendary actors Nora Aunor, Christopher de Leon, Piolo Pascual, and Vilma Santos were chosen as the recipients of the Dekada Awards, based on the number of Acting Awards they have won over the past 40 years of the Star Awards for Movies.

De Leon graciously accepted his award in person, expressing his gratitude for being recognized for his years of hard work in the industry.

“It's an honor for me to be recognized for my work several years, decade or more,” he said.

The event also saw the crowning of the power tandem of Alden Richards and Julia Montes for their film "Five Breakups And A Romance", which earned them the title of Movie Loveteam of the Year. Montes was not present during the awarding.

In addition to the Dekada Awards, the PMPC Star Awards for Movies also presented the Lifetime Achievement Awards to veteran actress Liza Lorena and top movie producer Vic del Rosario Jr.

Lorena was honored with the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award, while Del Rosario Jr. received the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award.

Maricel Soriano, Vilma Santos, and Nora Aunor all tied for the Best Actress award for their performances in the films "In His Mother's Eyes," "When I Met You in Tokyo," and "Pieta," respectively.

The other notable winners of the night include JC Santos and LA Santos, who clinched the awards for Movie Supporting Actor of the Year for their roles in "Mallari" and "In His Mother's Eyes" respectively.

“It feels great lalo na I'm now producing films, ang sarap sa feeling,” Santos said.

"Mallari" also swept multiple awards, including Movie Ensemble Acting of the Year, Movie Editor of the Year, Movie Sound Engineer of the Year, and Movie Theme Song of the Year, showcasing the film's excellence in various aspects of filmmaking.
