MANILA -- Whether performing for 9 or 9,000 audience members, Concert King Martin Nievera vowed to deliver a show fit for royalty during his awaited return to the Big Dome in Quezon City on September 27, his 42nd year in the industry.

“The title I do not carry lightly. But I have learned through the years, I am not the king. It is the audience. I have to give you a performance whether big or small venue. That is how much I respect the audience,” he said in an interview.

“Full or not it is not important to me, I want to have people who want to be there.  Back in the day, I learned stories how hard they worked to buy the ticket. I’d hear some people who made it from their province with their last centavo on my ticket. I am really all about people who watch my show even after 42 years," he added.

Though the OPM royalty deems the “The King 4ever” a “big risk,” he reasoned  it makes it all the more compelling to deliver an unforgettable performance.

“We have come to a point where we don’t know where our next show will be. Or what will we do, or will you still be there to watch us in the big venues. So this is a very big risk,” he explained.

Other showbiz royalty, such as Ogie Alcasid, who convinced him to do the concert, however, lauded Nievera and said the Concert King can fill up the Big Dome.

“I was OK with the intimate and cozy shows I have been doing but Ogie said he wants me to do a big one like Gary V and Regine. He believes in me more than I believe in myself," he said in a previous interview.

“I was even against the title but they insisted. Ogie, my friends, they believe in me,” he added.

Eager fans eyeing to attend his concert can look forward to an electrifying night of the icon singing his timeless classics.

“I will sing with the people all night the songs I used to do… seems to me after being in the business for 42 years, ang hinahanap ng fans ko, anak ng fans, or grandchildren, 'yung dating Martin. I think I have to embrace the me that I am today. That is the guy who sings 'Be My Lady.' The guy who sings 'You are my Song' or 'Kahit Isang Saglit.' They want to hear those songs again,” he said.

“But the difference audience now, is more than willing, too willing some times, to sing along,” he jokingly added.

Ticket sales for “The King 4ever” will begin on July 10.
