MANILA (UPDATE) — Even after almost 9 years have passed in their career as a K-pop girl group, TWICE said they are not yet ready to slow down.

Throughout the years, the 9-piece act released hit after hit, earning themselves different accolades from the music industry.

More recently, TWICE was able to grab the top spot in the Billboard 200 chart with their mini-album "With YOU-Th," which marked their first comeback this 2024.

The Billboard 200 ranks albums based on "album sales, track equivalent albums and streaming equivalent albums," according to the publication.

When asked during their press conference in the Philippines last June 1 on what they felt about this, Japanese member Minatozaki Sana revealed that it was a dream of one of the members for them to "be in the first place and now the dream has come true."

But what's on their sights now that they have reached the top spot in the said worldwide chart?

One of TWICE's rappers Son Chaeyoung said that now that they topped the Billboard 200 chart, they are now gunning for the top spot in the Billboard Hot 100.

"Well this is the album [we] put a lot of effort into. [We] are trying [our] best to give a perfect album and so [we're] happy and very grateful that [we] reached this achievement. And so, [we] would like to prepare cooler, fresher, better music, better album — to reach Hot 100 top 1," Chaeyoung told media organizations through a translator.

The Hot 100 is "the week's most popular current songs across all genres, ranked by streaming activity from digital music sources, radio airplay audience impressions, and sales data," according to Billboard.

But other than the goal of topping the charts or bagging numerous awards, TWICE leader Park Jihyo said their next challenge is really about what they give to fans moving forward.

"Aside from the ranks or the numbers they achieved, [we] heard that a lot of people have received a lot of strength and support from the music of TWICE. So [our] next challenge is how to gift ONCEs with a fresh style of music for them to have even more strength and passion in their life," Jihyo said through a translator.

TWICE was behind the hit songs "TT," "Feel Special," "What is Love?" and several other hit songs which earned them a continued spotlight in the K-pop industry.

The K-pop superstars last visited the country on June 1, 2024 for their first-ever fan meet in the country for a local food brand. Before this, they held a 2-day concert at the Philippine Arena in 2023 as part of their "Ready To Be" world tour.

The girl group is composed of Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.
