From one Best Setter to another: BINI Mikha draws inspiration from volleyball idol Jia de Guzman

MANILA – Mikha Lim of nation's girl group BINI revealed that her inspiration in playing volleyball is Alas Pilipinas captain Jia de Guzman.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Sunday at the sidelines of Star Magic All Star Games 2024, when asked about who her idol is in the sport, Mikha said she draws motivation from the decorated playmaker.

"Kasi I've seen a lot of her videos on TikTok, and lagi kong nakikita ang galing niya mag-set," the third youngest member of the group said.

She might not have watched Alas Pilipinas' games due to busy schedule, but Mikha expressed her full support for the national team.

BINI's main rapper, lead dancer and visual of the group said she was also happy to see Alas Pilipinas dance to "Pantropiko" after the squad's victory over Australia to clinch bronze in the AVC Challenge Cup for Women.

"Nung nanalo sila, I wasn't able to watch kasi grabe 'yung schedule namin minsan and I'm so sorry. Pero nakita ko they were dancing one of our songs, so I'm very grateful for their support," said Mikha. "They also have my support, so laban Pilipinas!" 

Mikha also took home Best Setter nod in the Star Magic volleyball gamecoincidentally, an award also won by Jia in the AVC Cup.

The 20-year-old sensation also said volleyball has always been her "happy pill" so she made time to grace the Star Magic Games despite her busy schedule.

"Siyempre, nakakapagod isipin. Pero volleyball has always been my happy pill, so kahit nakakapagod, it's like a stress reliever for me. So kahit nakakapagod, go lang nang go and laban pa rin."

Mikha and the rest of Lady Setters, however, absorbed a a tough 25-20, 22-25, 25-18 loss dealt by the Lady Spikers.

The girl group also performed their hit songs "Pantropiko" and "Karera" during the halftime show of the third game.
