MANILA -- Ahead of their highly-anticipated concert, BINI continues to receive advice from some of the biggest icons in the Philippine music industry.

On Monday -- four days before "BINIverse" -- the Nation's Girl Group welcomed Mr. Pure Energy, Gary Valenciano, during their rehearsals.

In an intimate conversation that lasted nearly an hour, Valenciano shared stories from his career that has spanned four decades. He also discussed his own debut concert, back in April 1984.

"It was more than just a pep talk," Valenciano said of his conversation with the members of BINI. "It was a talk about careers, the struggles of being in entertainment - in a business where a lot is expected out of you."

"It was just good to be able to share certain life stories with them, stories I know can play a major role in their lives," he added.

For Valenciano, it is important that veterans like him spend time with younger artists to share their wisdom and experience.

"Sabihin ng iba, oo, matanda na siya. That is true, but the point is nandito pa rin kami, so meron kaming ginagawa noon na hanggang ngayon ginagawa namin siguro yun ang dahilan kung bakit nandirito pa rin kami," he pointed out.

Valenciano was full of praise for BINI, whom he said were "beautiful girls inside and out."

"They make mistakes, they laugh, they cry, they sing, they enjoy, they want to entertain, they want to make people happy. And I’m glad that these are the kind of people that they are," he said.

The BINI members acknowledged afterward that they became emotional while talking to Valenciano.

"Si sir Gary lang pala ang magpapaiyak sa amin nang sabay-sabay," said Jhoanna Robles.

Still, it was a conversation that was much appreciated for the girls, especially as they enter the closing stretch of preparations for their concert.

"Grateful po kami kina Miss Regine (Velasquez) and Kuya Gary, siyempre sobrang tagal na rin nila sa industriya super helpful po sa amin yung mga advices nila and hindi po kami makapaniwala na nakakausap po namin sila ngayon nang ganung level ng pep talk. Sobrang thank you," said Gwen Apuli.

Velasquez had also visited BINI's concert rehearsals last week to share some of her own tips.

'World class'

Valenciano believes that BINI is close to being 100% ready for "BINIverse" -- a three-day concert on June 28-30 at the New Frontier Theater.

"Mentally, they really want to make sure that the concert on Friday is what it supposed to be. Which is world class," he said. "World class na ang BINI."

"'Yung mga tipong kahit anong mangyari, it’s going to work ‘coz they are prepared for it. That’s the point, that’s where they want to get," he added.

The girls, for their part, are excited.

"We're just getting ready, pinapolish na namin yung mga performances namin so watch out," said Maloi Ricalde.
