Photo: @THEL1VE_LABEL/XMANILA — A year after Mamamoo vowed to return to the Philippines, one of the K-pop girl group's vocalists, Whee In, made good on the promise by including the country as one of the stops for her first solo tour.

Throngs of fans called MooMoos recently trooped to the SM North EDSA Skydome for the Manila leg of the 29-year-old singer's "Whee In the Mood [Beyond]" tour.

With her rich vocal tone, Whee In presented a setlist that showed the wide range of her musical artistry, fielding songs of varying genres such as R&B, soul, dance and ballad. She culled songs from her debut single album "magnolia" (released in 2018) up to her latest release, the full-length album "IN the mood."

The singer took things slow as she opened the two-hour show with "I Know I Know I Know," followed by the more upbeat "water color."

As her album and concert title suggests, Whee In managed to get the audience in the mood as they sang along to "Spark," "Easy" and Trash."

At one point, Whee In asked the crowd how they were able to sing along to her tracks, reminiscent to Mamamoo's February 2023 concert when the quartet were similarly shocked at how MooMoos kept up with their vocally challenging songs.

Foreign acts have long praised Filipinos for passionately singing along during concerts. And with Whee In performing at such an intimate venue, it was no surprise how her fans' voices resonated throughout the venue.

Whee In sustained the calm and laidback atmosphere with songs like "Bite Me," "Butterfly," "Paraglide" and "Make Me Happy."

And while one could say that Whee In's solo songs bring out a gloomy mood or deliver sad messages, these did not hinder fans from enjoying her first solo outing in the country.

Whee In also treated fans to "Shhh...," an unreleased songs from her upcoming album. The number had fans' jaws dropping as she paired it with a more sultry and seductive choreography.

For her encore, Whee In sang "OHOO," "Springtime," "D-Day," and her latest single "WHEEE."

But Whee In was not the only one who prepared surprises for the evening because Filipino MooMoos surprised her with a cake for her birthday (celebrated on April 17).

At the evening's conclusion, one thing was apparent: Whee In indeed, as she sings in one of her songs, made fans happy.
