MANILA -- A resolution honoring the legacy of award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose to Philippine cinema and expressing condolences to her family was filed before the House of Representatives.

Gabriela Party List Representative Arlene Brosas, ACT Teachers Party List Representative France Castro and Kabataan Party List Representative Raoul Manuel filed House Resolution 1628 on Tuesday, three days after the actress died of heart attack at the age of 60.

“Jaclyn Jose made history as the sole Southeast Asian actress to clinch the prestigious Best Actress accolade at the 69th Cannes Film Festival for her depiction of a drug-dealing matriarch in Brillante Mendoza’s film Ma’Rosa in 2016,” the resolution stated.

“Her remarkable acting talent, nuanced character portrayals, and depth as a Filipina artist have undeniably left an enduring impact on our nation’s entertainment landscape, garnering her numerous accolades such as the Gawad Urian Awards, FAMAS Awards, Luna Awards, and even a nomination at the Asian Film Awards,” it added.

“The veteran actress was praised for her outstanding portrayals both in cinema and television, leaving and indelible mark on the entertainment world,” the resolution noted.

Before this, Ang Probinsiyano Party List Rep. Alfredo delos Santos also paid tribute to Jaclyn.

"But what makes her passing seemingly unreal is that she is currently a major character in the hit TV series Batang Quiapo, wherein she had just survived an assassination attempt during a prison riot. Jaclyn Jose lives on in the many movies and TV series she starred in over her long career and storied life," Delos Santos said before noting that Jose "left us too soon because we can feel how much acting fervor she still had in her as she portrayed the role of Chief Espinas."

Jose, whose real name was Mary Jane Guck, died in her residence in Quezon City on Saturday, March 2.

Her daughter, Andi Eigenmann, said Jose died due to a heart attack.

Jose, who started acting in the 1980s, was playing prison warden Dolores Espinas on "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" at the time of her death.

Jose memorably won the Best Actress award in the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for her role in "Ma'Rosa." In the local scene, Jose received acting accolades from Gawad Urian, Famas, Luna Awards and other award-giving bodies.

She earned a FAMAS nomination in 1984 for her debut on "Private Show," and a Gawad Urian for Lino Brocka's 1985 film "White Slavery."

On television, her portrayal of Magda in the series "Mula sa Puso" took her popularity to new heights.
