MANILA – Coco Martin revealed he did not set a budget when he produced the movie “Ang Panday,” which is an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

Martin said he wanted his directorial debut to be all-out so that moviegoers will feel that the film is worth their money.

“Sabi ko nga, magpapaka-businessman ba ako? Kasi kapag nagpaka-businessman ako, as a producer, titipirin ko ang production para malaki ang kita ko. Sabi ko ngayon sa sarili ko, first movie ko ito so ang gusto ko, ibubuhos ko lahat dahil gusto ko sulit ang tao kapag nanood sila,” he said.

Martin is the lead actor, director, and producer of “Ang Panday.”

It helped him, however, that some of his friends who were part of the movie waived their talent fee.

“Marami like si Jaclyn Jose, Lito Lapid, Mark Lapid, Ejay Falcon, at Jhong Hilario. Balikan lang naman [ng pagtutulungan]. Doon mo nararamdaman talaga iyong pamilya,” he said.

Now that the movie is about to be released, Martin admitted he is nervous as to how the people will see his film.

Kaya pinagsama-sama ko dito,” he said.

Does he feel the pressure for “Ang Panday” to do well in the box office?

“Ang Panday” will open in cinemas on December 25.
