MANILA - At 19 years old, Liza Soberano is not only a beautiful face and a fan favorite, but she is proving to be a role model to Filipinos as well.
In her most recent Instagram post, Soberano shared a personal message with her followers, shooting down the stereotype that brown eyes are “ordinary” and uninteresting in comparison to blue, green, or other colored eyes.
Soberano asked in her caption: “Has anyone ever seen brown eyes in the light? Like with really, really good lighting. In the sun, the color brown vanishes and turns into rays, golden rays of light. Creating its own image of a sunset. There’s absolutely nothing ordinary about brown eyes and I am damn lucky to have looked into a beautiful pair of brown eyes in my lifetime.”
The post gained over half a million likes in three days with overwhelmingly positive comments.
Many followers shared their love for their own brown eyes, and the brown eyes of their loved ones.
Soberano’s statement comes with an encouraging message -- telling Filipinos, and even non-Filipinos, to love and embrace their natural selves in a world where extreme standards of beauty exclude so many types of people.
