MANILA -- Many were distraught to learn that the iconic K-pop girl group 2NE1 has officially disbanded, but none more so than Sandara Park herself who took to Instagram to pen a message to their fans following the "painful" news.

"The announcement last Friday was very painful to ALL of us," she began. "But the past seven years has been filled with good and wonderful memories I will treasure forever. We - CL, Bom, Minzy, and I - will always be 2NE1."

"And you will always be our loyal, supportive, and loving Blackjacks!" added Park, referring to the collective name of their fanbase. "That will never, ever change. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Last Saturday, Park passed on a handwritten apology, which she did not post on her social media accounts, to some fans during a live taping of "Pinoy Boyband Superstar," where she sits as a judge.

It came a day after YG Entertainment confirmed 2NE1's split via an official release on the company's website. The agency said that it is "deeply saddened" to let the girl group go after seven years but has decided that it will instead focus on the members' solo activities.

2NE1 surged in popularity with their 2009 debut single "Fire," and went on to break the record for the highest-charting K-pop album on the Billboard 200 with their final effort, 2014's Crush. The group last performed together at the 2015 Mnet Asia Music Awards.

CL, in her own message addressing fans following the group's breakup, said they did everything they can to "make things work." She also asked fans to support each member's solo ventures.

"Minzy, Bom, Dara will all be doing great things on their own and I will always love and support them. And I hope you all know, YG, the members and I, we all really tried to make things work. I left everything behind and was in Korea all summer working on our album, but it fell apart ...tough times," CL said.

CL, who just wrapped up her first North American tour, added: "What we have to remember is that we made amazing memories for the last seven years together and I wouldn't have it in any other way, with any other group of people. ...I feel very blessed to have you guys in my life, on this journey, growing together, and I am thankful every single day to have amazing fans like you support us doing what we love."
