MANILA -- During her recent concert series, Regine Velasquez appeared emotionally vulnerable numerous times, including when she performed “I’ll Never Love Again” about mourning a partner and refusing to move on.

Titled “Regine at the Movies,” the sold-out shows at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City saw Velasquez singing tunes from films.

“I’ll Never Love Again” is from the recent big-screen musical starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, “A Star is Born,” which centers on a celebrity couple navigating show business while struggling to keep their relationship intact.

While Velasquez’s situation is similar, in that she is married to fellow singer Ogie Alcasid, theirs has openly been a strong marriage full of laughter and grounded on faith, according to their recent interviews.

Her shedding tears during her performance might have caused concern among fans, but Velasquez was quick to qualify the emotions she showed on stage as being rooted from telling the song’s story.

“May pinagdadaanan ba ako? Ano’ng nangyari?” she quipped after the number, as seen in a recording of the moment uploaded to YouTube by fan John Anthony Luna.

“The story kasi talaga is so relatable,” Velasquez continued. “I think it’s because I’m so happy, really happy — that’s why my heart and my mind are so open to all kinds of emotions. So, thank you.”

Velasquez recently marked a career milestone with her big move to ABS-CBN, which she said has opened wider doors for her as a performer, including having collaborations with close friends and other Kapamilya stars.
