Bela Padilla apparently played a key role in encouraging her former leading man, Zanjoe Marudo, to pitch a concept for a sitcom to ABS-CBN bosses.

On "Tonight With Boy Abunda" Wednesday, Marudo said taking part in or producing a sitcom has always been his dream.

"Noong naging artista ako, ang pangarap ko talaga is gumawa ng isang sitcom, magkaroon ng sitcom," he said.

And while he was given an opportunity during his early years as an actor, fate eventually brought him to drama and other genres.

For years, Marudo said a sitcom concept kept going through his head, and it was only recently that he was able to pitch it to network management.

All thanks to Padilla, who recently ventured into scriptwriting.

"Humingi ako ng tulong kay Bela noong time na magpi-pitch ako, kasi siya iyong magaling sa ganyan," he said.

According to Marudo, his concept was given the green light. Ecstatic, he called up Padilla to thank her first.

When asked to reveal the real score between him and Padilla, Marudo emphasized: "Mabuting-mabuting magkaibigan."

Marudo clarified that he is currently single, saying that at this point he can't give his full commitment that "every girl deserves."
