After a trending red-carpet welcome as a returning Kapamilya, Regine Velasquez made her debut on “ASAP” over the weekend in a grand way, alongside fellow ABS-CBN stars in Sydney.

Velasquez, dubbed “Asia’s Songbird,” appeared emotional as she performed for the first time as an “ASAP” mainstay, singing her hits “Dadalhin” and “Pangako” — the latter with her husband, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid.

During the show’s closing at the ICC Sydney Theatre, Velasquez surprised fans as she joined in singing “Just Love,” the popular ABS-CBN Christmas song released in 2017.

The music veteran notably had a number of solo parts in the song, and effortlessly belted a climactic note to cheers from the audience, as seen in a video uploaded by fan Jeppy Paraiso.

Prior to her transfer to ABS-CBN, Velasquez had been the frequent main performer of the Christmas jingles of GMA-7, so the “Just Love” moment on stage is remarkable, especially for long-time fans of the singer.

During a press conference after her ABS-CBN contract-signing last week, Velasquez said that if offered, she would be willing to have a part in the 2018 Christmas theme song of the Kapamilya network.

One netizen issued a sigh of relief upon seeing the couple together as it was also their first post after Valentine’s Day this year. The netizen maintained that this was what fans like them were looking for during the special occasion.

“This is what I was looking [for]... My mind is racing why I didn’t see pictures with your hubby… You’re a perfect couple for me,” the fan wrote.

Pia calmly explained why they didn’t see the need to post something special during Valentine’s Day.

“We didn’t think of posting on Valentine’s day because we’re together everyday anyway [laughing emoji],” Pia replied.

“We knew this was coming… The ever supportive hubby came with flowers and cake during Pia’s Dior activity,” a fan shared.

“They are an absolutely gorgeous couple,” another fan added.

Jeremy has been supportive of Pia’s career for which the latter has always been grateful. Previously, she expressed how happy she was with the amount of love and support she has received from him.

“Excuse the cheese but I’m just so grateful to have a partner who lets me fly 🐦‍🔥 and reach for my goals,” she previously shared.
