(UPDATED) In a new development amid weeks-long speculation surrounding Regine Velasquez’ supposed transfer to ABS-CBN, the Kapamilya network on Friday announced that the music veteran is joining one of its flagship TV shows in an overseas special.

Velasquez will be a special guest in “ASAP: Live in Sydney,” the concert variety program’s latest international show, scheduled on October 20 at the ICC Sydney Theatre.

The “Pangako” hitmaker is joining her husband and fellow singer Ogie Alcasid, who signed with ABS-CBN in 2016, at the star-studded event.

Velasquez, 48, has been identified with GMA-7 for a greater part of her three-decade career. Along with now-Kapamilya stars Alcasid, Jaya, and Janno Gibbs, Velasquez was among the mainstays of the network’s now-defunct concert variety show “SOP.”

“SOP,” which ran for 13 years until 2010, was for a time the direct rival program of “ASAP.”

With her long-time co-performers having transferred to ABS-CBN in succession, Velasquez had been teased numerous times this year about following suit, but would only give playful answers.

The teasing on the network switch eventually became a persistent rumor, and in what appeared to be a message to her fans on her next big career move, Velasquez attended the ABS-CBN Ball where she posed with top executives of the network.

No further announcement has been made as to Velasquez’ future appearances in ABS-CBN after “ASAP: Live in Sydney.”

Here’s the full announcement from ABS-CBN Australia, which also confirms the participation of “Bagani” stars Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil at the overseas concert:
